A particle effect design to emulate the trail of a hoverboard (as seen in the reference image), made in Unreal Engine 4.

The most notable points I took in when breaking down how to recreate the effect.
The material blueprint that went into creating the particle effect. The primary purpose of this setup is to have a texture that fades as it reaches the upper and bottom edges of the image, and to add noise to produce the "streakiness" seen in the trail.
A video of the particle effect in motion, set in editor to show that the length of the particles lifetime was also recreated.
